Put An Extra Dollar In Your Pocket This Holiday Season!

Put an Extra Dollar in your Pocket this Holiday Season!

In todays “swipe your card” world many of us are guilty of never having any cash in your pocket. If you are like me, Yep, guilty as charged.

put an extra dollar in your pocket this holiday season

This time of year I love to drop a couple of dollars in that little red bucket each time I see one but I never have any cash in my pocket. It’s so much easier just to stick a card in my pocket and run in for a quick stop at the store. Then I feel so guilty when I pass that red bucket. I know that every little bit means a lot.

This Holiday Season when running your errands and doing your Shopping, Stop! Take the time to get some cash and stick those couple of dollars in your pocket and help fill those buckets for the Holidays.

These volunteers are so dedicated, many in less than comfortable places, endlessly ringing that bell, reminding us that the Holidays are for GIVING!

Our cashless society has caused donations to be down over 30% for several years. Please, put an extra dollar in your Pocket this Holiday Season!

It's getting harder and harder.  Many retailers no longer permit the Salvation Army to have their kettle in front.

Good morning Bobbie. I used to collect donations for animal rescue and was always taken back by those who said they had no cash. I always carry cash. Great post.

Bobbie, I dropped an aquamarine ring in I had bought years ago in that lil bucket and it gave me such a thrill when I heard it on the news of the different things donated...they do such a great service.  Thank you Stop & Shop for letting the bell ringers remain at your stores!

Good morning Bobbie,

Good message to get out there but as Lenn says many retailers prohibit the Salvation Army from having their kettle out front. More organizations are taking different routes for us to donate which we are thankful for and contribute (probably in larger denominations).

Such a good idea, since I'm guilty of never having any cash on me, and my coins are usually in my cup holder of my car! Give to worthy causes this season.

Defiantly Bobbie got to do it. This is the time of year to help out a little more than usual.

Good morning Bobbie.  Tis the season to pay it forward as much as possible.  Debbie and I usually take a family in need (usually from a homeless shelter) and buy Christmas for them instead of exchanging gifts with each other.  It was her idea years ago and it's worked well for us.

Lenn, That part is a shame however I'll put that dollar in my pocket for those stores and shops that do.

Sorry Sheila. I never carry cash but will get myself in the habit during the Holidays.

Ginny, That is great! You got to smile again and again for that donation! Wow!

That's true Dorie. There are numerous ways we can give. Feed A Friend. Toys for Tots, etc.

There you go Jeff. Take that coin jar in with you next time.

It is Noah. You are right. It is.

Leave it to Debbie to come up with a great idea like that. What a wonderful thing to do! Good for you two! You make us proud.

Very generous thoughts that are very important Bobby. Help those causes out, every one dollar counts

Bobbie- I love your very sweet thought.   I still see them outside some of our stores.  And our local grocer has easy ways to donate when you check out.  But, yes, grabbing a dollar or two is a nice idea.

Thanks Bobbie.  I'm one of those without cash in my pocket.  But I will get some to have for these collections.

Thanks Kathy, It is. Thank you for the feature in your post too.

Hopefully it will cause more people to stick that extra dollar in their pocket through this Holiday season.

Hey Gabe. I knew I was not alone on that one. Thanks.

Kristen, Thank you. Just a little reminder to give back during the Holidays.

Great suggestion . I try hard to be ready for them because they do a good work.

Bobbie, I make it a point to have a few dollar bills in my purse just for the bell ringers.  It's part of the holiday season and I will put something in their buckets whenever and wherever I see them.

I always carry cash so I never thought of this... Surprised to hear that donations are down 30% over the last few years and I can see why that would be...  Good advice as is Praful advice... Happy Day Bobbie

I am never cashless, but can be strapped for denominations suitable for those buckets, if only for the number of them we pass

Great post Bobbie Smith ... I almost never have small denominations for the buckets. Great reminder!

I always have a few bucks stashed in the console of my car.  Yes, I am guilty of giving money to folks standing on the street corner.  At least they have shown the initiative to get out and do something.  And yes, maybe, just maybe they are going to buy a beer with it, but that's probably what I would have done with it.

Always good to give a little bit during the holidays, any amount to an organization or person of your choosing.

Posted by Kevin Mackessy, Dedicated. Qualified. Local. (Blue Olive Properties, LLC) over 4 years ago

Bobbie, Great suggestion!  I like to keep a few dollar bills in my pocket most of the time, and I can rarely pass up the Salvation Army's buckets without pushing something through the slot.  If those volunteers can stand out there freezing their rear ends off, the least I can do is try to make it worth their while to do so.

Thanks for reminder, Bobbie.  Instead of putting one dollar in our pockets, maybe we should go to the bank and get 20 one-dollar bills and spread the kindness.
