Eagle Watching Time is upon us here in the Poconos

The end of January and beginning of February mark the beginning of Eagle Watching Season here in the Poconos. Several sponsored opportunities for seeing this majestic bird are scheduled nearby.

The Monroe County Environmental Education Center (MCEEC) will sponsor Eagle Watches in the Upper Delaware Valley Region. These are scheduled for Fridays (Jan 31st, Feb 7th and Feb 14th). They begin at 8:30 am and you should register in advance by calling them at 570-629-3061.

The Delaware Highlands Conservancy will host several Eagle Tours starting at their winter field office in Lackawaxen, PA.  These are scheduled for Saturdays (Feb 1st, Feb 8th, and Feb 15th). Starting times and fees vary so check out their website for full details. Book early and these tour fill up fast. Call the Conservancy at 570-226-3164 or 845-583-1010 or email info@delawarehighlands.org for info.

Hi Jane, It seems they migrate to our area this time of year for open water that is not frozen. Interesting as most of the lakes and streams are frozen sold this year because it has been so cold.

Bobbie,  I love watching birds. The eagle is so majestic!  Wow ... I would so embrace watching the eagles ... If I lived closer I would definitely participate.
