My Toyota - She has Listed and Sold many miles of These Pocono Mountains and her Homes!
I have to pay a tribute to my beloved Toyota 4 Runner. She has carried me around these Pocono
Moutains of Pennsylvania for all my years of being a Realtor. This is many, many miles which I
now wish I had kept track of in a log. She is a 2001 Toyota 4 Runner of my favorite color and
she now has over 225,000 miles.
I pay tribute because I have never owned a vehicle this long or with this many miles that has
COST ME SO LITTLE. Other than brakes and tires and the usual maintenance I have had to
put little or no money into this vehicle. Nothing. That's the amazing part. 225,000 miles
and NO MAJOR OR COSTLY PARTS have had to be replaced/repaired.
I CONSIDER THIS A PRETTY PHENOMENAL FEAT! So I pay a Tribute to My Toyota - silly me!

I'm hoping I can continue to run her for a few thousand more! She needs a new rear bumper and
I'm having a terrible time trying to find a replacement before her next Inspection is due and if all
it takes is a replacement bumper to keep her - So Be It! My Beloved Toyota 4 Runner!

Bobbie- wow, that's not bad! What kind of mileage are you getting? I have an Expedition that I keep to hall my staging inventory around but the mileage on it is awful. But I love that I can get so much into it. Good luck with finding a bumper!
I too have a Toyota 4Runner. It's only a 2008 and has only 83,000 miles but it's been repair free so far.
I did drive a Chevrolet Blazer for 275,000 some years ago.
Is it the vehicle? Or, is it the dedicated maintenance we give our vehicles??
Bobbie,
Excellent. A testament to Toyota and your regularly scheduled maintenance.
Rich
Hi Lenn, Wow. Your Chevy went that far. GREAT! Here's to your 4Runner going even further. You know, I think it is a combination. Proper maintenance (love and care) and the vehicle!
Hi Kathy, Well, that is the one draw back with the price of gas these days - I get about 20 miles to the gallon but since I have not had to put any money into it to keep it running - one kinda evens out the other, I guess. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Rich, Yes I think so and Lenns comment confirms it too.
Joy, isn't that the truth. I have some friends that have over 300,000 on their Toyota truck and it is still going strong too. My Mom has a Chevy suburban and she has over 230,000 BUT she has put a lot of money into it to keep it on the road, but the engine is still going strong and the body too.
Bobbie....my first car was a Toyota Tercel (they no longer make that model). It went probably close to 200,000 miles and the only reason we had to get rid of it was that we had our third child and it was too small. I have had a Toyota minivan for the past 13 years....over 150,000 miles that we still have. Like you said, most of what we have spent has been just regular maintenance items and things that have to get replaced over the years. I just bought a Toyota Prius. The mileage is amazing & I'm hoping for that same longevity and dependability.
Christine, Great to hear. I would like something that gets better mileage but mine has been so faithful. Another testimonial for Toyota. Good Luck! Hope they keep on going for years to come.
Now that IS a #1 car! It is amazing that these cars last so long. I had a Chevy Citation many years ago that died on the railroad tracks with only 60K miles...
Hi Joan. Oh, sad story. Railroad tracks of all places. Scary. I agree. It is amazing, that's why I needed to write about her. When I washed her today she just looked so shiny and new I just had to write about her. Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate it.
Wow, that's a lot of miles!
Bobbie, there we go...we all love our cars. My Honda Odyssey - 240,000 miles - is still sitting in my driveway for couple of years as I cannot dare to give it away...soon I'll donate it for a cause.
Bobbie, I am in awe of your Toyota 4 Runner! Toyotas and Hondas seem to ride on and on!
My Hyundai Santa Fe has racked up 186,000 miles. It is absolutely the most reliable car I have ever owned.
My husband has run to Jeeps up to over 150,000 miles and I'm going to try the same with my LexusRX. He swears by Amesoil
Bobbie - What a great tribute. That's the little engine that could. Toyotas are great cars. I have one too.
Bobbie - That is great! Think too of the people you have transported and how many lives you have changed in helping buyers find a home. It's more than just miles - it's memories. I hope your odometer keeps on climbing with success!
Catherine, Yes it is a lot of miles.
Praful, somthing how we grow to love our vehicles and hate to part with them.
Sharon, Thank you. Me too.
Tammie - Hats off to your Hyundai. Hope it goes for another 186,000.
Valerie - Glad you found your true love. LOL. It's easy to do when they are so faithful to us.
Wallace - Good Luck with the Lexxus - hope you make it!
Debbie, Great Analogy. As many times as I read that book to my children I should have thought of that. Glad to hear you have one too.
Pat, Thank you. Sure has. Many happy miles, many happy families. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Bobbie,
So your car is a she?
If it was a terrible car would it be a he?
(Just wondering??)
:)
Phil
No, a good and reliable vehicle in this business is critical! So glad for your loyal Toyota!
This is definitely a great vehicle for Real Estate...plenty of room and reliable.
Phil, Habit. I call everything a SHE whether it works well or not. Sorry.
Paula, Absolutely. Could not survive without her.
Good Morning Edward, Yes, so true. Reliable is the key, especially in our "urban" area.
Bobbie, in this business you really need a reliable vehicle and it looks like you've found one. I hope you can find that bumper.
Michael, so true and Thanks. Me too!
My Toyota 4Runner is a '97 and has 265,000+ on it. Other than ordinary maintenance, I had to replace the starter once. It's an incredible vehicle, I will never stop driving it.
Hey Linda, WooHoo! Glad to know I can plan on mine for awhile yet. Great vehicle!
Yep, had one as well until 2 months ago as a second vehicle. But our desert lifestyle kinda killed it at about 170,000 miles. Engine, body and interior was almost like new. But the suspension and drive train was pretty well done as the desert air wore out the parts - it started to show as it was chewing up tires prematurely as well. Mechanic said tons of expenses to look forward to and had already spent big bucks in the last year or so to keep it on the road. And I can't say it was gas efficient with that big V-8.
So I want to see if my new more gas efficient Mercedes GX350 will go beyond the Toyota.
Bobbie,
I can honestly say that Toyota makes the best pickup on the planet. I have owned most of the brands and living in Texas you NEED a pickup. Toyota has knocked it out of the park....

HI Bobbie, I hope you knocked on wood before you wrote this! Your post makes me nostalgic for my 4Runner that I had in the 90's.
You know Sandy, I seriously considered that. 1) Would it "ruin" my great record with my Toyota 2) should I knock on wood before posting.
Hi Debbie, That is good to know. Thanks!
