The 20th Annual Tobyhanna Ice Harvest
RESCHEDULED TO: February 16th 2013, 9am to 3pm
is a rendition of how we used to get ice for our Ice Boxes many years ago, in the days before the Refrigerator. A Sight all young eyes and young minded people should see.
The Poconos used to be very famous for the amount of Ice that was harvested back in the day due to the many large lakes in our area. This Annual Ice Harvest, in years where it has been cold enough, is quite a site to see. It takes a great amount of effort to harvest this Ice actually. Wow!
If you are looking for Things To Do In The Poconos, this is one you should DEFINITELY do. On January 19th from 9am to 3pm, an all day fun affair for all to see.
Read an informative article on the History of Ice Harvesting here.
Hopefully I will be feeling well enough to attend for myself and get some great pics to share!
