A recent update that I received from my clients after their house sold brought tears to my eyes and I feel I just need to share it with you. A satisfying reminder of why we are in this business.
My clients were from out of state and just couldn't easily make the trip to utilize their vacation home anymore and decided to sell it with reservations. They have owned the home and used the home often for over 20 years and did have an emotional attachment to it. Before they listed the home they even had it inspected to be certain that their were no problems with the home for the potential buyer and any and all items that were on the inspection report were completely taken care of.
Well, we put the home under contract and had the inspection. The new inspection report showed a few more items that needed to be repaired. Well, before I even had a request from the buyer for what he would like to have repaired they had their repairman out there fixing everything that was even "slightly" mentioned on the inspection report so needless to say when we received his request for certain repairs they had already been taken care of or they were in process to be done, along with the other little things that he did not request be repaired. Next, they came to an agreement on what they would leave in the house and what they were taking with them as the buyer was using the home as a vacation home also. On the day of closing the sellers went to the house to remove their remaining items and naturally left a 'gift" for the new buyer. Closing went off without an issue (seems so rare these days) My clients ended up leaving many more items in the home than they had originally said they would and those that they sold to the new owner were for a very minimum amount.
Here's the most amazing heartwarming part. The new owner was so appreciative for what they left behind and so pleased with dealing with them throughout this transaction they he sent them "the most beautiful flower arrangement they have ever seen" along with a very nice note. They both felt that certain items of the home added to its "charm" and so the sellers left them there for him to enjoy so he could continue to feel the "charm" of the home and he very graciously showed his appreciation. Isn't it wonderful!
I am so touched by this story. I have never heard of this happening before and I felt it was a great story to share. It was very satisfying to hear.
